I have owned a Superscope 207LP for almost 30 years. Due to
changes in technology, I finally had to replace the unit. Because the old
Superscope provided so much assistance for my students, and for me as a musician
and teacher, I needed another machine that would provide the same, or even
better. I investigated a variety of brands, but my ultimate decision was made
due to the facilities provided by the Superscope 340.
The Superscope 340 is just what I needed. I don’t need to carry
microphones with me as the inbuilt mic is so sensitive and the output of the
inbuilt speakers are more than adequate.
My young clarinet students, who always play ‘flat’, can now play
with the CD accompanying their tutor book due to the ability of the Superscope
to reduce pitch without changing tempo. I can use the inbuilt tuner to make them
aware of how flat they are performing and use it as a tool to get them to
correct their embouchure to reach A440 in their performance and to correct their
intonation.
My Kip McGrath Education Centre senior students now use the
Superscope as a facility for proof reading, whilst the juniors are using the
Superscope to record their reading. My maths students are using it to record the
times tables and loop their recording so that they can listen to their own
recording of the tables over and over again in the car. They appreciate their
own voice rather than the ‘corny’ sung tables available on the commercial
market.
For me, the 340 is wonderful! I am saying this without
investigating its full potential - such as line in, external mic, etc. There are
so many facilities available on this very compact machine that can assist
students, musicians and teachers of a variety of disciplines.
